A woman’s dog retrieve from the water what first appears to be a wayward stick, but turns out to be something much more sinister…
The next morning, Fatima, Thea, and Isabel, receive a text from Kate, that says only, “I need you.”
The four girls were best friends at boarding school, the four became inseparable and were notorious for playing the Lying Game, telling lies at every turn to both fellow boarders and faculty. The rules of the game are strict: no lying to each other—ever. But their little game had consequences, and the girls were all expelled in their final year of school under mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of the school’s eccentric art teacher, Ambrose (who also happens to be Kate’s father).

Since I read my first Ruth Ware book I’ve been trying to read from her backlist and this book was another great read.
It was a little slower than others but it kept me engaged since the first page. I loved the creepy and dark atmosphere, the dual timelines and the complex characters.
Another book from this author that I enjoy and I can’t wait to pick more soon!
Read if you like: dual timelines, dark atmosphere, psychological thrillers, boarding school settings, character-driven stories.
